This paleo guacamole recipe is so easy it takes just minutes to put this together quickly. This guacamole makes it a great side dish to any meal or even by itself as a dip.

Paleo Guacamole

There are many variations on this recipe some requiring just a few ingredients and others that require a lot. In this recipe, I make use of red onion, garlic, lime, tomato and also cilantro.

Getting a decent avocado at the supermarket can be quite hard. You will often find some that are not ripe enough thus impossible to mash and others that have gone brown on the inside.

The best way to check if an avocado is good is to press the avocado slightly, and if it dents somewhat, then it is ready to be used. If it doesn’t dent, then it is too hard and best to either not buy or buy if you have a few days to allow it to ripen.

Normally guacamole is paleo friendly, but you may find a lot of the pre-prepared variations at the supermarket aren’t. You will find that a lot of them will add cream cheese, so they don’t need to add as much avocado.

Some brands go as low as 10% avocado in a dip named guacamole, and it’s hard to believe how they can get away with it. To avoid buying guacamole with a low amount of avocado it’s usually just best to make it at home where you know exactly what has gone into it.

Paleo Guacamole Recipe


  • 2 avocados
  • ½ red onion, finely diced
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 tomato, finely diced
  • 1 Tbsp. cilantro, chopped


  1. Peel, deseed and mash avocados in a medium-sized bowl.
  2. Add diced onion, tomato, cilantro and lime juice.
  3. Season with and salt and pepper.
  4. Serve & Enjoy

Cooking Tips

  • This easy paleo guacamole recipe is a fantastic side dish to many other amazing recipes. You can try having it with paleo nachos, chili con carne, sweet potato fries or even just by itself.
  • This recipe will only last one day even if you do keep it in the fridge. The lime should help keep it for awhile, but you will probably find that the avocado will brown quite fast.
